“Limes steeped in vodka, grapefruit and lashings of salt go into this invigorating face and body scrub.” Well anything steeped in vodka is plenty good enough for me!
Sometime last week I did that thing where you properly study your face in the mirror (does anyone else do that, or is that just me?!) and I was so shocked at the amount of blackheads I saw. Like I know it’s gross to talk about, but I don’t think you can properly review a face scrub and not talk about them, but seriously I had loads. I was so grossed out, like how could I have let them get that bad?! I wash my face everyday, I’ve pretty much stopped wearing makeup- I know I don’t take the best care of my skin possible but I don’t neglect it either. What was going on?!?!?!
Anyway, I knew I needed to get rid ASAP and needed a really really good face scrub to do this. Queue a trip to Lush where I somehow managed to refrain from buying the whole shop, which was good considering the 250 ml pot of Ocean Salt I bought cost me £15.95 (I nearly fainted at the counter). But I figured that you’re not only paying for a (hopefully) great product, but also piece of mind that everything is natural, cruelty free and ethical.
I was so excited that I put the product on pretty much as soon as I got home. You can either scrub it on your face dry, or if you have more sensitive skin you can scrub it on to damp skin (though if you have very sensitive skin then this product isn’t recommended for you). I applied the scrub on to damp skin, and it felt so…..scrubby. I hate it when you get a scrub and there’s barely any scrub on it (because what is even the point?!) but this was perfect, it felt like I was literally scrubbing away the crap from my skin! After I’d put the scrub on, I washed it off with warm water and voila, that was it.
I could feel the difference as soon as I took it off, my skin felt so so so so smooth it was amazing! My face felt like it had had a good old clean and that all the crap that was on it had been obliterated, and I had a nice glow. I felt like Beyonce. The next morning, I could see I had significantly less blackheads than I did, though for £15.95 I did expect them to have vanished completely (though I am aware that my expectations are sometimes impossibly high)! But since I’ve continued using it, the my face is looking so much better and it is feeling so much smoother.
Overall, I really like the product. It smells good in a natural, sea like way that reminds me of my Uni days in Cornwall and contains no artificial perfumes. It is effective and makes my skin feel radiant, which in turns gives me an instant boost. I would say it is expensive for what it is, but you only need to use a little bit, and as it is so intense you should only need to use it twice a week max so you could make it last quite a long time. It really does the job, and with everything Lush, you know that you are getting ethical products which is worth the higher price tag.
4.5/5 stars from me!
